Foreclosure Event Hosts Two Most-Famous Florida Attorneys

Sarasota.

April Charney, nationally-known foreclosure defense attorney from Jacksonville Legal Aid, hero to many as the Mother Theresa of foreclosure defense, has joined the all-star lineup of speakers at the “Save Your Home” event. Ms. Charney has characterized banks as “court interlopers [who] might as well be wearing a ski mask and carrying an Uzi for as much right as they have to force homeowners out of their homes”: fighting words that have given hope to tens of thousands of frightened Florida homeowners facing foreclosure.

“Save Your Home” is a FREE day-long foreclosure defense workshop to be held on Saturday, October 15, at the Unity Church of Sarasota, 3023 Proctor Road, from 9-5.

Ms. Charney joins Mr. Henry P. Trawick, Jr., iconic author of Trawick’s Florida Practice and Procedure. Mr. Trawick’s speech is titled “The Foreclosure Mess.” Matt Weidner, prominent Tampa foreclosure defense attorney and Lisa Epstein, widely-quoted citizen/advocate and owner of ForeclosureHamlet.com will round out the speakers. Numerous local attorneys will also be on hand to answer questions about the latest news and foreclosure defense strategies, and to discuss proposed changes to mortgage/foreclosure laws in the 2011-2012 session of the Florida legislature.

There will be a free screening of the Academy Award-winning movie, Inside Job, at 7 p.m.

This event is being sponsored by The Mortgage Justice Group, an organization of citizens helping citizens in foreclosure. For additional information, please call the Mortgage Justice Group at (941) 504-4873 or email mortgagejustice1@yahoo.com.

  1. EVERYONE please read, sign, and SHARE our petition to audit the National Land Records. http://www.LandTegrity.com. We are trying to reach 100,000 signatures!! Thank you for your support!

  2. Reblogged this on Foreclosure Defense Florida and commented:
Although everybody should try to educate themselves and stay informed about foreclosure laws and practices, you need legal help. Hiring an experienced attorney is always the best way to fight foreclosure. Time is essential!

  3. Hi everyone–
You can do this in your state! It’s a lot of work, but sooo worth it.
    1) set a date
    2) find a venue
    3) line up speakers–just get a general commitment
    4) figure out an agenda
    5) firm up your speakers
    6) promote, promote, promote
THIS is how we can truly be effective: we get the word out; we bring together homeowners with other homeowners and the attorneys who “get it.”
YOU can do this! Every state can organize, every state has attorneys who will travel six hours (like April is doing) to participate. Local newspapers will cover the event. Today we had great coverage here (thank you—we appreciate it!), in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and in the Bradenton Herald.
We have the power to change the conversation! Let’s use it! Let’s get GOING!!!

  4. Take the time to march on your local bank folks. It’s going on all over the nation right now. Nobody can/will do it for you. I spent the afternoon tying up traffic and TFC Bank this afternoon. The people stuck in the traffic were honking their horns, not pissed off, but to show support. They somehow know that what we’re doing we’re doing for everyone.

  5. You are soooo right carie. Ocwen actually stated because WE started making payments to them-even though 6 months earlier Home123(of New Century) went bankrupt and no transfer or BK trustee acknowledgement, we OWE THEM.
WHAT A CROCK. Our recent letter from them for our homestead?-
I kid you not-the first words are “please consider this revised notice for the 12/1/2011 payment and request you ignore the previous notices that you have received for the said payment change date.

Now, the last time we got a notice was exactly a year ago AND it’s been over 2 1/2 YEARS sense we made a payment!

  6. ALL ,

    Sorry, off topic …

Regarding the AHMSI v. LPS/DocX lawsuit in Dallas TX … Does anyone have the case number or have there been any replies/complaints/responses to view on this yet??

    Thanks

  7. @ carie, that’s OK

    @ carie, that’s OK

  8. oops—sorry about the double post…

  9. The Woman Who Knew Too Much

“Millions of Americans hoped President Obama would nominate Elizabeth Warren to head the consumer financial watchdog agency she had created. Instead, she was pushed aside. As Warren kicks off her run for Scott Brown’s Senate seat in Massachusetts, Suzanna Andrews charts the Harvard professor’s emergence as a champion of the beleaguered middle class, and her fight against a powerful alliance of bankers, lobbyists, and politicians.”

“…The fight against Warren and the C.F.P.B. was one of the most brutal Washington battles this year, up there with the debt-ceiling showdown and now the looming battle over the jobs bill—but part of the same war. Arrayed against Warren, and today against the very existence of the C.F.P.B., was the full force of what many, most notably Simon Johnson, the M.I.T. professor and former International Monetary Fund chief economist, have called the American financial oligarchy: Wall Street firms and banks supported mainly by Republican members of Congress, but also politicians on the other side of the aisle, along with members of Obama’s own inner circle.
At a time of record corporate profits, a time when 14 million Americans are out of work, when millions have lost their homes and, according to the Census Bureau, the ranks of those living in poverty has grown to one in six—that Elizabeth Warren could be publicly kneecapped and an agency devoted to protecting American consumers could come under such intense attack is, ultimately, the story about who holds power in America today…”

  11. This is great idea to have such workshop for homeowners, may be it can be taped and offered to those who cannot make it all the way to FL. Or may be we can have one here in CA, we need as much helpful information as possible. Go April and Matt, thank you for helping the homeowners!

  12. If your home was part of the “securitization scam” (subprime),—it is UNSECURED DEBT. NO “funding”—simply a “line of credit” disguised as an actual “mortgage”.

    FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD…

Fraudulent paperwork created to pretend like it’s a real mortgage.

    STOP THE MADNESS NOW.

DON’T LET THEM TAKE ANYMORE HOUSES.

Tell them to show you a ledger and a balance sheet showing your payments have been going to an actual “mortgage”.

    THEY CAN’T SHOW YOU THIS.

    Because they don’t have it.

This is the truth that we have to get out there.

  13. THE FAMLIES THAT GOT THROWN OUT ON THE STREET &THE FAMILIES THAT ARE STILL GOING THROUGH THEIR SCAM DESERVE THAT MONEY THE FAT CATS MADE FROM THE SECURITIZATION SCAM .LET’S GET TOGETHER AND HIRE THOSE PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS AND GET THAT CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT GOING AGAINST ALL THOSE BIG LOW LIFE BANKS THAT HAVE NO MOTHER AND LOW LIFE SERVICERS THAT THEIR MOTHERS ARE WHORES GOING

  14. April is my hero!
